Outlooks Tools AccountsVisit: tools/options for more Outlook setup discussion.
"Servers" and "Advanced" panels below are setup in the beginning and then usually remain set unless some fine tuning is required. Familiarize and review settings as suggested accordingly.

Servers This is where SMTP and POP3 Settings are entered.
IMAP is a more versatile option for when on the road. It handles the back and forth communication better so that you aren't stuck in a hotel on a dial-up and a big attachment prevents you from seeing your inbox.
note In Outlook IMAP / POP3 selection is allowed only when account is initially setup. One cannot change from POP to IMAP or vice-versa once account is created.
note Any specific settings referred to in the example images ARE EXAMPLES ONLY. Refer to the provided information for your account setup. |
Advanced With so many broadband providers imposing restrictions on sending email we recommend using a different port (366) as an alternate to the original 25.
From here you can effect other useful settings such as unchecking the "leave copy of mail on server" check box.
Server Timeouts slider bar can be increased to help downloading of large attachments.
