IACL.ORGShots of ongoing work to improve the facility and reduce operational costs.
Where it's not always possible to document everything noteworthy, we're pleased to be able to present some examples of work in progress.
Much of this is being done in an effort to use natural cooling to offest air conditioner usage.

01-07 Server Room UpgradeRemoving some obsolete ductwork to pave the way for server racks on the breezy east side of colocation room. |
12-06 Air Handler UpgradeOur new "bio-filter" uses a standard duct filter to strain dust and particles otherwise introduced from the outside. |
June 2006 ConstructionThe ceiling vent fans over the "attic" space were so successful we opted to rip the entire roof over the server room and create proper ducting channels.
We estime approximately 75 lbs of roofing and wood material came off the apex. It was difficult to sawz-all the pine wood, a combination of sawing and hammer and chisel was adopted and proved effective to rapidly open up the vents.
We are excited that these intrinsic improvments will help vastly reduce the amount of electricity consumed in air conditioning and fan ventilation to the server room.
Yes, the exposed wood that we could get to with a brush has been painted white. |
